Weymouth Recreation offers a competitive developmental swim team for children ages 7 - 18
Stroke technique, physical fitness, self confidence, and positive self esteem are the primary goals and benefits of being a member of our swim team.

We swim in the South Shore Summer Swim League during the Summer and Swim against regional club teams during the school year.
 
Swim Meets - All Meets require a registration. ($10-$15 to cover non-summer meet expenses and/or pool rentals) Swim Meets are open to current team members of the Weymouth Blue Sharks only.

Swim Team is for children who are competent swimmers and should be able to swim 100 yards without stopping to join the team.
Younger swimmers 7-10 should be able to swim Freestyle and Backstroke with proficiency, have a working knowledge of Breaststroke and Butterfly, and be able to swim more than 25 yards of each with out stopping.

General Information

  • The Fall/Winter Team Registration will open on September 15.
  • ALL NEW SWIMMERS MUST ATTEND A TRYOUT PRIOR TO REGISTERING.
  • Swim meets are required events for all seasons.
  • Stroke technique, physical fitness, self-confidence and positive self-esteem are the primary goals.
  • Participants must be able to swim repetitive pool laps and have a working knowledge of each of the main swim strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.
  • These are not swim lessons.
  • Team swimsuits and swim caps are required for all meets.
  • One piece swimsuits, goggles, and caps, are required gear for each practice.
  • We practice mutual respect and pool safety throughout the season and pool rules must be followed at all times.
  • Swimmers will participate in swim games to boost team morale and as rewards.
  • Parents are responsible for transportation to and from practice and swim meets.
  • Parent volunteers are necessary at all swim meets, signing up for the season prompts you through a commitment to volunteer at meets.
  • We have a dedicated experienced coaching staff willing and able to support your swimmer.
  • Swimmers should not wear tee shirts or rashguard tops to practice.
  • Please enter the pool through the locker rooms.
